Privacy Policy

Who we are

Virtnumber ("we", "us", "our") operates virtnumber.com (the "Service") and acts as the data controller for the personal data described in this policy. You can reach us any time through our contact page.

No guarantees

We handle personal data carefully and in line with this policy, but nothing here is a guarantee of a particular outcome, of uninterrupted access, or of a security standard beyond what's reasonably achievable. The Service and the information in it are provided without warranties of any kind, consistent with our Terms of Service.

What we collect

  • Account data — your name and email address, either entered directly or provided by Google or Apple when you sign in that way.
  • Order and payment data — your order history, the numbers and credit you've purchased, and for crypto payments, the wallet addresses involved in a transaction.
  • Usage data — pages visited, general interaction with the Service, and technical performance data (such as page load speed), collected only after you accept analytics cookies. See our Cookie Policy for details.
  • Support data — anything you send us through the contact form or a support ticket.

Why we process it

  • Contract — account data and order/payment data, because we need them to provide the Service you're buying.
  • Consent — usage and analytics data, and any marketing email, both opt-in and withdrawable at any time.
  • Legitimate interest — basic security and fraud prevention, for example blocking abusive sign-up patterns.

Who we share it with

We don't sell your personal data. We share the minimum necessary with:

  • The mobile number and messaging infrastructure providers behind the Service, solely to deliver the number or SMS you've purchased.
  • Payment processors and blockchain infrastructure needed to process a payment you initiate.
  • PostHog (analytics, EU-hosted) and Sentry (error monitoring) — only for usage and technical data, and only after consent for PostHog.
  • Cookie-Script, to remember your cookie consent choice. See our Cookie Policy for detail.
  • Mailjet, for transactional and (if you've opted in) marketing email.
  • Cloudflare, as our infrastructure and security provider in front of the whole site.
  • Google or Apple, only if you choose to sign in with them — that exchange is governed by their own privacy policy as well as ours. See Google's Privacy Policy or Apple's Privacy Policy.

Data and account retention

Unused account credit expires 365 days after your most recent confirmed payment; the balance is set to zero and cannot be restored. Making any payment resets that period.

Financial and order records are kept for as long as required by Estonian accounting and tax law, currently seven years, after which they are deleted. Other account data is kept for as long as your account is active, and deleted or anonymized within a reasonable period after you close your account or request deletion.

Your privacy rights, wherever you are

We give everyone who uses the Service the same set of rights over their personal data, not only visitors from places where a specific law happens to require it. Because we're established in the EU, we apply one standard globally rather than a different, thinner one for each country. You have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Request erasure ("right to be forgotten")
  • Restrict or object to certain processing
  • Receive your data in a portable format
  • Withdraw consent at any time, without affecting anything already done based on it

If you're in the EU/EEA or UK

The rights above are legally guaranteed to you under the GDPR (and the UK GDPR). You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority.

If you're in California

Under the CCPA/CPRA, you have the right to know what personal data we collect, request its deletion, correct it, and opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal data. We don't sell personal data or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising, so there's nothing to opt out of in practice, but the right stands regardless. We won't discriminate against you for exercising it.

Everywhere else

Local law may not require any of this where you live. We apply the same rights to you anyway, just contact us and we'll handle the request the same way we would for anyone else.

Deleting your data

You can delete your account and its associated data at any time from Account Settings.

Unsubscribing from marketing email

Every marketing email includes a one-click unsubscribe link. You can also withdraw marketing consent from Account Settings at any time; this never affects transactional email, such as order confirmations or security notices, needed to run your account.

International transfers

Some of the providers above may process data outside the EU/EEA. Where that happens, we rely on their own compliance mechanisms, such as EU Standard Contractual Clauses, to keep your data protected to the same standard.

Children's privacy

The Service is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the update.
